July Pick 3 Pinterest Party Linky

It's been a whirlwind week, but as of right now, I have 47 minutes left to get this post finished and linked up while it's technically still July 3!  :)

I'm linking up with my blogging friend Marissa at The Inspired Owl to share three of my favorite Pinterest finds this month.

I'm still on the lookout for some awesome math ideas, especially those that build language, to work on with my English learners this fall.  When I saw this easy-to-make popsicle stick activity, I couldn't believe I had never thought of anything like it before!  What an awesome idea...and it clearly has minimal prep!  I'm brainstorming now to come up with a way I can use it on a higher-order thinking level to build ideas about grouping and skip counting too.

Next up, something else that has been on my mind...parent communication.  I'm SO thrilled with how my parent communication has been going this past year, but I know there is always room for improvement.  Because of the immediacy with which my parents often need to contact me (due to translation or some other urgent request), I always give them my phone number at our beginning of the year meeting so they know that they have someone who can help them.  I never thought much about Remind 101 because it seemed counterproductive to me...wouldn't it be a lot more work to use this instead of just texting my parents directly?

Then I learned you can schedule texts!!!  I'm thinking this will be a great way for me to step up my game because I often have ideas about reminders, etc. at very early or very late hours.  Scheduling these notices ahead of time (and being able to have more time to translate them more carefully than "on the fly") would bode me well in the coming year.

I also want to use it for our field trips next year!  Our last field trip to the aquarium was AWESOME!  But there were many times that day when I wished we had those restaurant beepers so we could tell all parents and chaperones that we were ready to meet back up or that it was time to load the bus, etc.  Then it dawned on me that we could totally use Remind 101 for that throughout the day.  So I found this pin that looks like a great tutorial for me to figure out how to use it for these purposes to complement what I already have going.  :)

And I left you last month with a little motivational quote.  So I think that's an awesome way to "sign off" on my Pick 3 Party each month.  I found this one that even has a precious printable to go with it!  I think I'll print it and add it to the new inspiration board in my office.  Thanks to Landee See Landee Do for creating and sharing it!
