Winner Wednesday: BTS Edition

Image
It's the first Wednesday of a new month, so that means it's Winner Wednesday over at A Dab of Glue Will Do .  This month we're all giving away back-to-school related products , so I have a copy of Ms. Bell's 5: Posters for My Classroom Rules up for grabs.  I also have a few freebies below, so keep reading to score all your BTS stuff!  In my classroom, I focus on 5 simple rules, inspired by WBT, and then establish strong classroom procedures for all other things that happen on a regular basis in our room.  All behaviors boil down to these 5 basic rules, and that's why I selected them.  If a student breaks one of these rules, then he/she has consequences according to the broken rule.  For example, if a student breaks our rule about respecting classroom property by being irresponsible with one of our class iPads, then he/she loses his/her turn on the iPad.  But, if he/she doesn't follow a procedure, we (my students included) just remind that student o...

Plan with Me Sundays: All My Supplies

Image
Another Plan with Me Sundays link-up with Kreative in Kindergarten and Keeping Up with Mrs. Harris . This time we are talking all about supplies !  I enjoy planning and being organized , as well as shopping for school supplies , so it only makes logical sense that planner supplies would send me into teacher diva overload !  Of course, everything doesn't HAVE to be cute, but I have learned about myself that when something has visual appeal and I enjoy doing it, I am more likely to be consistent . So here are my faves for this year...(keep in mind I'm still waiting on my own planner so I already feel behind ...sad face)... Clearly, planners are for writing !  There is so much to do and record and document as a teacher that the right writing tools are so important.  I like to use different colors for different tasks/roles I have so that I can quickly scan my monthly/weekly spreads for which activities go with which of my life roles.  Bu...

Plan with Me Sundays: Vegas Edition

Image
I'm challenging myself to do more linky parties this year, but I've almost run out of time on this one!  I love the idea of Plan with Me Sundays because that is when I do my planning for the week ahead .  Since this is my first time to link up on this party, I'm going for a minimalist approach until I learn from a few of the other, more "seasoned" bloggers. First up: My Planning Space The office overhaul on my summer bucket list is coming along well, but I've had to put it on pause for a little bit with the activities of the last few weeks.  I did get to hang up my photo lines and my vinyl last week though, and I'm really excited about how it turned out.  Now, when I sit down to plan in this coming school year, I can do so in front of my "inspiration space" to remind me of all the reasons I want to do more, be more, and achieve more! Next up: My Planning Materials I'm big on the idea of color coordination , so I t...

Why I Have Absolutely Loved My Planner!

Image
So right now it's kind of hard to stay focused on the here and now.  I think many of us start feeling spring fever and thinking about what we " coulda , woulda , shoulda" done differently this year.  I think that's a completely normal part of teaching and a very healthy reflective attitude.  But, of course, we want to still be dedicated to our current students and stay focused on the tasks at hand.  That's just one reason why I am so glad I took the time to make my planner last year.  I still see some things I want to do differently...because, like you, I'm already planning for next year, so I am mentally designing my changes already.  But since it takes me quite a while to personalize and design each and every one, let me tell you why I have loved mine so much this year and why I think you need one too. 1.  It's SO cute!   Who doesn't enjoy planning in a planner that is personalized for their own needs and likes?  It makes me EXCITED ...
